Palmetto Bluff’s 2024 Artist in Residence program kicked off in March with one big question: Is it Cake?! Julie McAllister, a Charleston-based cake artist and illusionist, joined us at FLOW Gallery + Workshop to instruct workshop attendees on creating life-like and delicious works of art. From fondant Lowcountry Boil cake toppers to buttercream flowers inspired by those found here in the Lowcountry, each participant was wowed by Julie’s creativity, instruction, and sweet treats. Julie competed in the hit and binge-worthy Season 3 of Netflix’s original series “Is it Cake?”, which aired just as her residency at Palmetto Bluff began!
