Ben Ross & Jeff Plotner / Brackish

Written by Palmetto Bluff

When Brackish co-founder Ben Ross got married, he channeled both his love of creativity and the outdoors to make the first ever feather bow tie as a special gift for his groomsmen. Today, Ben and former groomsman Jeff Plotner work together to create these unique pieces in dozens of styles. Ben and Jeff will be joining us at the Artist Cottage on Monday, April 23rd, as our April Artist in Residence.

On Monday, guests can join Ben and Jeff at the Artist Cottage for a casual Meet + Greet from 4 – 6 p.m. Enjoy light bites and drinks while you shop the latest Brackish collection with the creative duo.

You will also have a chance to construct one of the Brackish team’s handsome lapel (or hat) pins at the Fancy Feather Work workshop on Thursday. These pins are made with the foraged and dried thorns from wild plum thicket branches and sustainably harvested pheasant, quail, peacock and guinea fowl feathers. Ben will be hosting this Fancy Feather Work workshop from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Artist Cottage.

Then on Friday, with the help of Ben, select pheasant, quail or guinea fowl feathers and coordinating hardware to create a unique pair of earrings during the Earrings with Outdoor Appeal. This workshop will be form 1 – 3 p.m. at the Artist Cottage.

And, as always, the duo will be hosting Gallery Hours on Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Artist Cottage. Be sure to stop by, meet the team and learn more about their craft.
