Palmetto Bluff’s 2023 Artist in Residence program rounded out the year with wildlife photographer Cacky Rivers. Cacky’s passion for birds native to the Lowcountry shone through at her welcome reception on Wednesday, where she gave a presentation on her newest publication, “Born and Raised.” With the assistance of the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy on Thursday, she led participants through the sweeping grounds of Palmetto Bluff in search of native birds by land, ending in observing a pair of red-tailed hawks enjoying a freshly caught meal. Friday’s workshop welcomed a search for birds by sea as guests toured the waterways of the Lowcountry aboard an Outside Palmetto Bluff boat in search of feathered friends. The trip culminated with fantastic views of Bald Eagles taking flight over the peaceful marsh!
