Italian Inspired: Flame Food Truck

Written by Palmetto Bluff

Who doesn’t love pizza? Not only is there so much diversity and flavor, but pizza has an undeniable way of bringing people together and creating a sense of community.

But here in the Lowcountry, good pizza can be hard to find. Whether it’s our close proximity to the water (and our inherent focus on seafood) or our distance from NYC (or Chicago), pizza isn’t necessarily top of mind. And, while there are a few pizza places in Bluffton and Hilton Head, there were none at the Bluff.

We decided to change that.

In 2021, Palmetto Bluff acquired a vintage 1950s Mack Fire Truck and partnered with Coastal Crust, located in Mount Pleasant, SC, to create a custom designed wood-fired pizza truck. (Coastal Crust specializes in flipping antique vehicles into mobile food, retail, and beverage trucks.)

After nearly a year undergoing a complete overhaul, the Palmetto Bluff Club celebrated the official opening of Flame on Thursday, May 19.

Crafted with Palmetto Bluff’s sense of community in mind, the concept of Flame is based on our mission to create spaces throughout our community that bring people together—gathering around good food and good conversations.

Featuring a selection of artisanal pizzas, salads, Italian favorites, desserts, and beverages—including two beer taps, a rose tap, a red wine tap, and specialty canned cocktails—Flame offers a casual dining experience with a space for people to eat, drink, and enjoy the beautiful marsh landscape of Moreland Village.

New York may be known for its thin crust, and Chicago has cornered the market on deep dish pies, but Palmetto Bluff has something you can’t find in the Big Apple or the Windy City…pizza with a view.

Flame food truck is stationed in Moreland Village behind Cole’s. Open daily from 5-9PM, the menu will change seasonally; view the Flame menu here.
