As the holiday season descends upon the Lowcountry, Palmetto Bluff becomes a festive haven, where classic Southern architecture meets personal style. Whether you prefer timeless elegance or a more eclectic vibe, the homes here offer the perfect backdrop for holiday decorating.

Leah Bailey, local Bluffton interior designer and shop owner, shares her love for holiday decor: “The holidays are my absolute favorite time of year! I love going over the top with fresh greenery, gold and silver accents, and oversized white poinsettias.” Her approach embraces Southern tradition while adding unexpected touches, like quail feather trees and pearled ornaments. “Texture is a must here in the South,” Leah says, emphasizing how details such as rusticated stone balls and seasonal candles can transform a home into a cozy holiday retreat.

Stephanie Gentemann, Palmetto Bluff’s Director of Design, takes a more eclectic approach: “Every Christmas, I try to decorate so that everything looks cohesive… but we stick with our decorating traditions, which create a very eclectic, collected look in our house.” For her, the joy of decorating is in the personal touches that reflect her family’s unique style. “My favorite part of the holidays at Palmetto Bluff is seeing the personal decorating styles and hearing the stories behind them,” she adds. The community’s diverse homes, with their porches, breezeways, and layered architectural elements, create an inviting, evolving atmosphere.

At the Bluff, holiday decor is about blending tradition with individuality. Whether you’re adorning your home with lush greenery and elegant accents or creating a more eclectic look, the key is making your space feel welcoming and full of memories. After all, it’s not just about the decorations—it’s about celebrating the season with the people you love.
