The Conservancy is looking forward to another summer of fun with our upcoming kid’s programs! Wild Child Camp and Junior Naturalist Camp will have dedicated weeks in June.
Registration is $200 per child for the week. To participate, parents must fill out the following online form. Once the form is filled out, please email it to us at info@pbconservancy.org to include which camp you are signing up for and we will send a square invoice for payment. Monday, June 10th – Ecology
Campers will begin the week learning how the world around them functions through games and experiments. Kids will gain a better understanding of renewable resources, wildlife populations, and the food web.
Tuesday, June 11th – Reptiles & Amphibians
This day’s focus is on the cold-blooded residents of Palmetto Bluff. We will learn more about reptiles and amphibians as we look for turtles, check cover boards for snakes and lizards, and play reptile-themed games.
Wednesday, June 12th – Birds, Bugs, & Blossoms
Today’s jam-packed day will have campers growing like weeds, migrating like monarchs, checking bluebird boxes, and learning what a bird’s beak tells us about its diet.
Thursday, June 13th – Splash Down!
Wild Child Camp will wrap up with a day of splashing good fun! We will throw cast nets off the Moreland dock, understand the importance of clean water, and learn about permeable surfaces. Prepare to get soaked!
Monday, June 24th – Bushcraft
Campers will spend the day learning how to build shelter and fire along with other skills valuable for survival
Tuesday, June 25th – Freshwater
This day’s theme is the limited resource of freshwater! We will check turtle traps, learn how pollution affects waterways, cast a line for fish, and go microscopic to see what life is hidden below the surface.
Wednesday, June 26th – Archaeology
The archaeologists at Palmetto Bluff have uncovered a wealth of information on the history of those who walked this property before us. Campers will get a taste of what archaeologists do as they search for artifacts in a field, sift through artifact-rich mounds of dirt for glimpses of the past, and learn how to piece it together.
Thursday, June 27th – Saltwater
Junior Naturalists will round out the week with a day around the salt marsh! We will see what animals we can catch at the Moreland dock, examine the small “fry” under microscopes, broaden our understanding of runoff and pollutants, and get hands-on with squid dissection.
