From roads named after an abundance of trout to streets paying homage to artifacts dating back hundreds of years, each street in Palmetto Bluff has been given a carefully chosen name that represents the history of the property.
Next up is Gallavant Street in Hayfields. Have you ever wondered why “gallivant” is misspelled as “gallavant” on our street sign? It’s not a mistake…or at least not our mistake.
Located in the Hayfields neighborhood of Palmetto Bluff, Gallavant Street is named for a racehorse that once belonged to R.T. Wilson, Jr. In fact, all of the streets in the neighborhood known as Hayfields were named after racehorses owned by R.T. Wilson, Jr., the early 20th-century owner of Palmetto Bluff. “Gallavant” was one of the stars of Wilson’s stable in 1905 and 1906.
