Brown Bag Lunch: Sweet Grass Baskets

February 12 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Wednesday, February 12

12 – 1 pm

Conservancy Classroom or Online

The Conservancy is honored to host Michael Smalls, a 7th generation basket-sewer, and his protégé Dino Badger for a discussion of the art and history of the sweet grass basket – an iconic treasure of the Lowcountry. Mr. Smalls was taught the story and craft of sweet grass basketry by his great-grandmother, Lucinda Pringle, whose own mother was an enslaved worker on Mt. Pleasant’s Laurel Hill Plantation.

Walk-ins welcome.
