Meet Arun, hear about his creative journey, and explore his distinct artistic voice—shaped by years of storytelling through color, texture, and tradition. His work is showcased prominently in the museum store at the Gibbes Museum of Art and has been featured at the International African American Museum in Charleston. Whether you’re a longtime collector or discovering his work for the first time, this reception offers an inspiring and personal introduction to his creative world.

Signature Style Workshop

FLOW Gallery + Workshop | $100

In this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop, artist Arun Drummond invites you to create a one-of-a-kind mixed-media painting inspired by his bold, symbol-rich style. With step-by-step guidance, participants will learn how to incorporate paint and texture into their own expressive pieces, ending with Arun adding Sweetgrass to finish the piece. This special session will feature a painting experience rooted in Arun’s Matriarch series, which honors his grandmother and the legacy of strong women in his life. This workshop isn’t about imitation—it’s about discovering your rhythm, experimenting freely, and leaving with a finished piece that reflects your personal voice. All materials are provided, and no prior art experience is necessary.

The Creative South Ornaments

FLOW Gallery + Workshop | $100

In celebration of the season, this special workshop will focus on creating one-of-a-kind ornaments inspired by Arun’s Southern roots and symbol-rich style. Each participant will start with a hand-painted silhouette provided by Arun, then decorate their figure with expressive colors and personal touches. To complete the piece, Arun will add a Sweetgrass inclusion to each, turning the ornament into a meaningful and collaborative keepsake for the holidays. This workshop encourages creative freedom, bold choices, and a relaxed approach to the art-making process. Whether you’re new to painting or an experienced artist, you’ll leave with a piece that speaks in your own voice through Arun’s distinctive lens.
