Written by Palmetto Bluff

5 Ways to Adorn Your Home with Coastal Holiday Decor

The holiday season is upon us, and most everyone looks forward to transforming their home into their own winter wonderland. If you’re looking to decorate your home for the holidays, you might feel restricted to only using winter colors and Christmas-themed embellishments. However, there are elegant and sophisticated ways to incorporate coastal holiday decor into your home.

Continue reading for our coastal holiday decor ideas that you may incorporate into your house this season.

1. Choose Your Holiday Color Palette

There are endless combinations of holiday colors you can incorporate into your coastal holiday decor, it’s just the matter of choosing one. Some may choose to go for the classic red and green theme, however, there are so many more options you can include in your coastal home. For example, blue and silver tones accented with gold details create an elegant winter wonderland aesthetic. Additionally, the light blue tones are fitting with the beach theme so it can be seamlessly incorporated into a coastal home.

Whether you’re looking to incorporate unique and modern, or traditional and classic designs make sure you love all the colors in the palette. This is important as the color theme you choose will act as a base for the rest of your decorations in your home.

2. Focus on the Details

When decorating your home for the holidays, some individuals tend to get caught up in the big picture, however, focusing on the small details can make all the difference. The Christmas spirit can be represented in the tiniest accents, so don’t miss out on the following decorations.

Candles

Candles are an effortless way to set the tone for the holiday season by providing a cozy and warm atmosphere. Whether they’re simple, fragranced, or flameless candles, be sure to select ones with tones that compliment your overall theme. Then, simply place them on your mantels, window sills, bathrooms, or wherever else you’d like.

Garland

Whether you choose artificial or live greenery, garland can transform your living space. You may use a garland to decorate your front door and surrounding porch area or dress up your mantle by interlacing with twinkle lights. Garland may also be used to accessorize other decorations such as candles, photo displays, or other miniature arrangements you have around your home.

Wreaths

Christmas wreaths symbolize a welcoming and cheery home during the holidays. You may decorate them with ribbons, bows, lights, bells, or embellished lettering. Position them on your front door, over your mantel, or outside your windows.

3. Display Winter Houseplants

You may think that the season for lively plants has passed, but fret not — you can still incorporate decorative winter plants into your coastal holiday decor. The following plants can withstand the wintry weather and embellish your environment with their abundant foliage and vibrant blossoms:

  • Poinsettias

  • Red Amaryllis

  • Rosemary Christmas Tree

  • Frosty Fern

  • Norfolk Island Pine Tree

By placing these plants in your home, you will be surrounded by lush, holiday colors and feel the cozy ambiance as you witness snow falling outside your windows. You can place these plants throughout your home around the fireplace hearth, on end tables, or up on the mantel.

4. Diffuse Holiday Scents

One way to subtly introduce the Christmas spirit into your is by diffusing holiday aromas throughout your living space. Some popular holiday scents include:

  • Roasted chestnuts

  • Gingerbread

  • Pinecone

  • Cinnamon

  • Peppermint

There are many different ways to diffuse these holiday fragrances throughout your home. You can find a holiday candle, incense holder, or aromatherapy diffuser that coordinates with your coastal holiday decor and fits beautifully into your home.

5. Accessorize Your Christmas Tree

Last but not least, it’s time to adorn your Christmas tree! Your tree is the focal point of decoration during the holidays so don’t be hesitant to deck it out. Decorate with coordinating ornaments, ribbons, lights and other small accents that align with your holiday color theme. For a natural flair, add some pine cone or eucalyptus garlands to spruce up your branches. Finally, you must add a Christmas tree topper whether it’s a classic star or extravagant bow. The topper is the first thing on your tree that catches the eye of admirers so make sure it is reminiscent of the rest of your theme.
