For over a decade, the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy has been building, maintaining and monitoring nest boxes designed for eastern bluebirds. The boxes are providing new and important data on the behavior and success of these beautiful birds as our community grows.
The Palmetto Bluff Conservancy is happy to report that the bluebird population at Palmetto Bluff is thriving and our nest boxes have been a big part of its success. In 2017, over 400 chicks hatched in these bluebird boxes. However, over time these bluebird boxes need to be replaced. Many of the boxes are now too old to be used. But this is where you come in. By adopting a box, you can ensure that a bluebird family has a home for years to come and help the Conservancy in their mission to conserve the natural and cultural resources of Palmetto Bluff.
For $250, you can sponsor a bluebird box for a full nesting season. Your donation gets you a brand new bluebird box with a name of your choosing etched into it. You will also receive an end of year summary on the happenings within your box. The summary will include all of the data the Conservancy collects and pictures of the birds, eggs and chicks that inhabit the box.
