Palmetto Bluff’s highly anticipated new golf course, Anson Point, opened for play on January 2, 2026, marking a new chapter in legendary golf at the Bluff. Designed by Coore & Crenshaw in partnership with South Street Partners, the course is an expression of South Street’s guiding philosophy, “designing with nature”, a principle that has long defined Palmetto Bluff as an extraordinary place to live and play.
From its earliest stages, we followed Anson Point’s evolution—from concept and contouring to the sound of the first tee shot on opening day. The result is a course carefully shaped to blend with its surroundings, built using locally found natural materials, and designed to minimize impact on native flora and fauna. Every decision reflects a deep respect for the land and its ecosystems.
"Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw have designed some of the most extraordinary golf courses in the world, so they were the obvious first choice for our new course at Palmetto Bluff. From the beginning, our visions were aligned—to create a masterpiece that would be exciting to play, while feeling as though it had existed naturally within this landscape for a hundred years."
- Chris Randolph, Managing Partner of South Street Partners.
Anson Point unfolds across four distinct Lowcountry ecosystems: upland pine terrain, maritime forest, live oak groves, and expansive salt marshes framed by sabal palms. Dramatic vistas and fairways weave through the land, giving each hole its own rhythm and character. The course is not designed for spectators or showmanship, but for golfers who see the game as a purposeful walk through nature.
The course’s logo, the Eastern Wild Turkey, serves as a powerful symbol of this ecological commitment. Considered an “umbrella species” at Palmetto Bluff, the health of the wild turkey population is a key indicator of the vitality of the broader ecosystem. As the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy often notes, “If the turkey thrives, everything thrives.”
The Conservancy will continue to manage the natural areas surrounding Anson Point, including green spaces integrated throughout fairways, tees, and holes. A prescribed fire management method—established more than 40 years ago—will remain in place, encouraging the growth of native wildflowers such as white-blooming boneset, lavender-hued blazing star, and silky aster, a low-growing evergreen with yellow blooms. These species serve as vital host plants for a wide range of butterflies and moths.
A new comfort station is currently under construction and set to open in March 2026. Located on the ninth hole, The Roost will offer a curated menu from the Club’s culinary team, signature cocktails, restrooms, convenient grab-and-go options, and a variety of snacks. A temporary Clubhouse is also underway and expected to open later this year.
Anson Point is a private course available to members of the Palmetto Bluff Golf Club. To explore the course and discover ownership opportunities at Palmetto Bluff, reach out to the Palmetto Bluff Real Estate Company via realestate@palmettobluff.com or 843.258.5029.
