Behind the Bluff with Sales Executive: David Johnson

David’s Journey to Palmetto Bluff

Born and raised in Lewisburg, West Virginia, David Johnson’s career path began with a moment of chance. While studying Finance and Economics at Marshall University, he walked into the Greenbrier Sporting Club’s real estate office in search of a summer job. That spur-of-the-moment decision led to an internship and eventually a full-time role, setting the stage for a lifelong passion.

Although his background was in finance, David quickly realized his true calling was with people and helping families find a home in a place where memories are made. With the Greenbrier team’s mentorship, he gained both valuable experience and a clear vision for the future.

For years, David admired Palmetto Bluff from afar, even subscribing to The Bluff magazine long before visiting. When a position opened, he jumped at the chance. Him and his wife, Ashley, made the move to the Lowcountry and from the very first day, it was clear this was a place unlike any other.

A Day in the Life of a Palmetto Bluff Sales Executive

For David, no two days at Palmetto Bluff are alike. Some mornings are spent with families visiting for the first time, exploring the community, and learning about its unique lifestyle. Other days are dedicated to narrowing down the perfect home or homesite, or collaborating with builders, architects, and designers to bring a vision to life.

Staying up to date on the latest inventory, developments, and neighborhood updates is also a critical part of his role. Above all, David’s focus is on helping clients make informed decisions and ensuring they feel confident in choosing Palmetto Bluff as their home.

What Sets Palmetto Bluff Apart

To David, Palmetto Bluff’s defining trait is its seamless balance of community and conservation. “What separates Palmetto Bluff”, David says, “is its ability to create a community within conservation. The land and wildlife that were here long before us come first, and that’s evident the moment you arrive.”

He vividly remembers his first drive down Old Palmetto Bluff Road at dusk—Spanish moss framing the roadway, gas lanterns flickering in the evening light. The attention to detail, from timeless architecture to granite curbing and brick sidewalks, makes Palmetto Bluff feel authentic rather than manufactured.

That authenticity extends far beyond aesthetics. From boating and golf to fitness and dining, every element is designed to enrich the lives of Members while preserving the land that makes this place so extraordinary.

Helping Buyers and Sellers

When guiding buyers, David encourages them to immerse themselves in the Bluff: bike the trails, paddle the waterways, linger over dinner, and simply soak in the atmosphere. Whether someone is searching for a full-time residence, a seasonal retreat, or a place to gather generations, knowing how they’ll use the property helps him recommend the perfect fit.

For sellers, David emphasizes the team’s expertise. At Palmetto Bluff, selling a home isn’t just about square footage—it’s about telling the story of the property and the lifestyle it offers. By staying current on every development and amenity, the real estate team ensures each property is positioned in the best light. As David explains, the real estate team isn’t just selling homes and homesites—they’re ambassadors of the Bluff, helping families understand the lifestyle and opportunities within each neighborhood.

Looking Ahead

Palmetto Bluff’s future excites David as much as its present. The Moreland Forest neighborhood continues to take shape along the 7.5-mile inland waterway, offering new opportunities to live surrounded by natural beauty. In early 2026, the highly anticipated Anson Point golf course by Coore & Crenshaw will elevate the Bluff’s golf experience to world-class levels, complete with sweeping marsh views.

Longer term, the future arrival of Anson Village, Palmetto Bluff’s third village, will be designed as another vibrant community hub where neighbors can connect, relax, and explore. With a thoughtfully planned mix of dining, retail, fitness, and waterfront amenities, including an in-water marina, it will bring the same attention to detail and timeless Lowcountry character found throughout the Bluff. For David, these additions reflect the Bluff’s ability to evolve while preserving the authenticity that sets it apart.

Favorite Hidden Gems

When asked about his favorite memories, David recalls a sunset cruise through Palmetto Bluff’s winding creeks with friends and family—complete with a dolphin sighting or two. The evening ended at Moreland Landing, where the group climbed the five-story treehouse to watch the last light fade before heading to Cole’s for dinner, drinks, and a spirited game of bowling. It was, in his words, “an absolute blast” and a perfect example of the experiences that make Palmetto Bluff so unforgettable.

Your Invitation to The Bluff Awaits

For David, being a Sales Executive at Palmetto Bluff is more than a career—it’s a calling. The greatest reward comes from watching families realize they’ve found their place, whether in a home ready to welcome them or a homesite where they’ll build their future. Knowing that these homes will serve as gathering places for children, grandchildren, and generations to come is, for him, the ultimate joy.

When you’re ready to explore all that Palmetto Bluff has to offer, David will be there to guide you toward the place that feels just right. Your dream home in the Lowcountry is closer than you think.
