Born and raised in Lewisburg, West Virginia, David Johnson’s career path began with a moment of chance. While studying Finance and Economics at Marshall University, he walked into the Greenbrier Sporting Club’s real estate office in search of a summer job. That spur-of-the-moment decision led to an internship and eventually a full-time role, setting the stage for a lifelong passion.
Although his background was in finance, David quickly realized his true calling was with people and helping families find a home in a place where memories are made. With the Greenbrier team’s mentorship, he gained both valuable experience and a clear vision for the future.
For years, David admired Palmetto Bluff from afar, even subscribing to The Bluff magazine long before visiting. When a position opened, he jumped at the chance. Him and his wife, Ashley, made the move to the Lowcountry and from the very first day, it was clear this was a place unlike any other.
For David, no two days at Palmetto Bluff are alike. Some mornings are spent with families visiting for the first time, exploring the community, and learning about its unique lifestyle. Other days are dedicated to narrowing down the perfect home or homesite, or collaborating with builders, architects, and designers to bring a vision to life.
Staying up to date on the latest inventory, developments, and neighborhood updates is also a critical part of his role. Above all, David’s focus is on helping clients make informed decisions and ensuring they feel confident in choosing Palmetto Bluff as their home.
To David, Palmetto Bluff’s defining trait is its seamless balance of community and conservation. “What separates Palmetto Bluff”, David says, “is its ability to create a community within conservation. The land and wildlife that were here long before us come first, and that’s evident the moment you arrive.”
He vividly remembers his first drive down Old Palmetto Bluff Road at dusk—Spanish moss framing the roadway, gas lanterns flickering in the evening light. The attention to detail, from timeless architecture to granite curbing and brick sidewalks, makes Palmetto Bluff feel authentic rather than manufactured.

When asked about his favorite memories, David recalls a sunset cruise through Palmetto Bluff’s winding creeks with friends and family—complete with a dolphin sighting or two. The evening ended at Moreland Landing, where the group climbed the five-story treehouse to watch the last light fade before heading to Cole’s for dinner, drinks, and a spirited game of bowling. It was, in his words, “an absolute blast” and a perfect example of the experiences that make Palmetto Bluff so unforgettable.
For David, being a Sales Executive at Palmetto Bluff is more than a career—it’s a calling.
