When South Street Partners first sat down with legendary golf course architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw to explore the possibility of creating a new 18-hole golf course at Palmetto Bluff, the excitement was palpable. Nestled near the future Anson Village, the proposed site had long captured the imagination of the duo. In fact, Coore and Crenshaw had been consulted twice before by previous owners, each time recognizing the location’s undeniable potential. Yet, for various reasons, the dream was delayed—until now.
With construction now well underway and key milestones being achieved week after week, this long-awaited vision is becoming a reality. For Bill Coore, designing a golf course is more than just laying out holes. It’s about creating something that feels as if it belongs to the land. As he walks the Palmetto Bluff site, Bill is captivated by the region’s rich history, describing it as an “old part of America.” His challenge—and joy—is to build something that complements the land’s legacy and makes it feel like it’s always been here.
