Introducing the Anson Point Golf Course at Palmetto Bluff: A New Legacy in the Lowcountry

Written by Palmetto Bluff

We are excited to unveil the official brand identity for Palmetto Bluff’s newest chapter in golf, Anson Point Golf Course. Designed by golf icons Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and set within more than 500 acres of Lowcountry landscape, Anson Point reflects a return to golf’s purest traditions, where the contours of the land guide every decision.

Set in the planned Anson area of Palmetto Bluff and inspired by its namesake, Admiral George Anson, the mid-18th-century British naval officer and explorer, the course reflects a sense of discovery and a connection to the surrounding land and waterways.

The course’s logo, the Eastern Wild Turkey, embodies the ecological philosophy that guides Palmetto Bluff. As Jay Walea, Director of the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy, often says, “If the turkey thrives, everything thrives.” A familiar sight across the property, the Eastern Wild Turkey is a testament to the Conservancy’s commitment to caring for the land and its wildlife.

Shaped by Nature, Guided by Legacy

Anson Point is uniquely designed as a golf experience without any residential development; an intentional approach intended to protect important wildlife corridors and help preserve native ecosystems. The course’s design reflects this commitment, featuring native vegetation and natural elements, and blending the fairway edges into the existing landscape. The Conservancy team will continue to manage the land with care, using prescribed burns to promote the growth of vital wildflower and plant species.
