The Top 6 Festivals You Don’t Want to Miss This Fall

The days are getting shorter and the weather is finally cooling down. The auburn and rust-red foliage are falling from the trees and the aroma of pumpkin and apple spice fills the air. Yes, the fall season is finally here! The chilly, comfortable season makes everything feel a little lighter when you can curl up in a cozy blanket and light a fall candle. While it sure is nice to nestle inside, there is so much fun to be had outdoors during the season. Autumn is a highly favored season, so what better way to celebrate than with a fall festival?

Discover all you need to know about local fall festivals in the South Carolina Lowcountry!

Harvest Festival

Just outside of Charleston, visit Johns Island for the annual Harvest Festival! Here, you will find a plethora of activities, including pumpkin carving, archery, and live bluegrass music — it doesn’t get better than that! Savor Southern delicacies including kettle corn, finger-licking Carolina BBQ, and all of your other favorite festival delicacies! Beverages, including soft drinks, wine, and beer will also be available for purchase. After indulging in some delicious food, stop by the crafters market to shop and support local merchandise vendors. The Charleston County Public Library will also be present, offering educational activities, books, and more.

Those attending are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets as seating may be limited. If you want your fur babies to be a part of the fall fun — good news, all dogs are welcome but they must remain on leash at all times.

Fall for Greenville

Fall for Greenville is a popular, annual fall festival that people from all over travel to experience! With an extensive lineup of music artists, beer and wine merchants, and food vendors, you will be fulfilled from every aspect of this fall festival! Adults and children alike will easily find a diverse range of entertainment best suited to their interests. At the festival, there will be a designated Kids’ Area packed with rides and activities for all ages! To make the most of your experience, consider purchasing some Taste Tickets exchangeable for food, drinks, children’s activities, and merchandise.

The outdoor festival will persist rain or shine so be sure to plan accordingly! At Fall for Greenville, you will find lots to look forward to, so make sure you are ready with all the information you need!

South Carolina Pecan Festival

With over 50,000 attendance each year, this thrilling one-day fall festival has charmed locals and tourists alike. The South Carolina Pecan Festival is the biggest event in the region and the only one of its kind. Numerous national media, including Travel + Leisure Magazine Online and AAA’s Go Magazine, have written about the festival and frequently give it ‘Best of the Pee Dee’ awards. There is plenty to do for both kids and adults! Activities for children include friendly games, magical pony rides, top-notch inflatables, and more. While the kids have their fun, the adults can watch live entertainment of many genres and sip on a beer from the Pecan Pub!

Admission to the festival is free of charge, however, some attractions may cost a small fee. Lawn chairs are permitted and encouraged for festival goers as provided seating may be crowded. Before you leave, order a dish that includes Carolina pecans — after all, you’re at the Pecan Festival!

Walhalla Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is a phenomenal fall festival honoring Walhalla’s original German heritage! For the kids, there will be classic rides and carnival games. As for our adults, there will be a beer tent serving authentic German beer. Browse our incredible arts and crafts section while shopping from merchants throughout the Southeast. Make sure you order a bratwurst with kraut and sample some other German dishes. For a sweet treat, order a staple German dessert such as an apple dumpling! End the night while watching the fireworks shoot across the beautiful Lowcountry sky.

Asbury Hills Fall Festival

Nestled within the mountains of South Carolina, the Asbury Hills Fall Festival will take place during peak week — get ready to witness the autumn foliage hues at their highest vibrancy! Outdoor activities allow you to fully embrace the fall season at its very best. Children and adults can participate in hayrides, a rock climbing wall, archery, and face painting. Lunch and other treats will be provided at the festival for all attendees! Scrumptious barbecue plates will be available for purchase along with homemade apple cider and butter — be sure to take a jar home for biscuits, toast, and more!

Don’t miss out on the fun — before arrival, you must fill out our liability release form and wear closed-toed shoes in order to partake in any of our adventure programs!

Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch

The Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch has flourished since 1997 and has become one of the greatest fall festivities in South Carolina! Every year, individuals of all ages gather around to enjoy some good ol’ fashioned farm fun. Seasonal activities include a family-friendly Halloween Tractor tour, the Boone Hall Farms Corn Maze, Farm Football, and so much more! All your favorite festival foods will be available for purchase along with vivacious activities such as face and body painting and pumpkin chunkin’!

It is only natural that pumpkins will be available for sale, so don’t forget to purchase a few to decorate and carve!

When: Every weekend in October; Fridays & Saturdays, 10 am-5 pm; Sundays, 12 pm-5 pm!

Admittance Cost: $15 for adults and children older than 2 and free for children under 3!
