This October, Charleston-based abstract impressionist painter Raven Roxanne comes to Palmetto Bluff for two days of art, nature, and creative exploration inspired by the Lowcountry landscape.
Known for her expressive use of color, texture, and movement, Raven finds inspiration in the simple beauty of nature, family, and community. Birds, flowers, nests, and other natural forms frequently appear throughout her work, transformed through an intuitive style that encourages a closer look at the everyday. Her paintings have been featured in Condé Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, West Elm, among others.
On Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10, guests will have the opportunity to experience Raven’s work, hear more about her creative process, and explore the Palmetto Bluff landscape alongside the artist herself.
The weekend begins Friday evening at FLOW Gallery + Workshop in Wilson Village with a gallery opening and conversation with Raven.
From 4–6 PM, Raven will share more about her artistic journey, the experiences that have shaped her work, and the inspiration behind her ethereal paintings. Guests are invited to enjoy light bites and refreshments while exploring a collection inspired by Palmetto Bluff, available exclusively at FLOW Gallery + Workshop.

On Saturday morning, Raven will trade the studio for the trails of Palmetto Bluff during a guided walk with Aaron Palmieri, Science & Education Manager for the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy.
The morning begins with a meet-and-greet before heading into the landscape to slow down, observe, and gather inspiration from the Bluff’s changing colors, textures, shapes, and sounds. Notice the palette of native flora and fauna. Watch sunlight and shadow move through the maritime forest. Listen for birds overhead and consider the patterns, forms, and small details that can easily go unseen. For Raven, this kind of observation is essential to the artistic process.
Following the walk, guests will gather in the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy Classroom for an intimate, hands-on workshop with Raven. Drawing upon the morning’s discoveries, participants will create their own works of art while learning how Raven observes and interprets the natural world through color, texture, movement, and composition.
No previous painting experience is necessary. The workshop is designed for all skill levels, offering both experienced artists and curious beginners an opportunity to experiment, observe, and create alongside Raven.

Raised on Florida’s Gulf Coast in a family of artists, Raven Roxanne was surrounded by creativity from an early age. After spending years in her mother’s studio and developing an enduring fascination with color, she studied painting at Auburn University before eventually making her home in Charleston.
Today, Raven lives and works in the heart of Charleston’s historic district. Her abstract and impressionist paintings explore nature, femininity, community, and family, often through familiar natural elements such as flowers, birds, and nests.
While her subjects continue to evolve, Raven returns again and again to the quiet beauty of everyday life. Through color, texture, and energy, her practice is an exercise in curiosity and observation, finding something extraordinary in what might otherwise go unnoticed.
