Shelly Wilkins of S. Wilkins Interior Design found inspiration for her design of Palmetto Bluff’s ice cream shop, Melt, in the most unlikely of places: an aqua-colored pendant light. Featuring an interesting combination of modern and vintage, black and white, cool and warm, the resulting space offers a classic bistro aesthetic, beckoning visitors to come inside for a sweet treat.
Outdoor tables with colorful aqua chairs beckon visitors to grab a scoop (or two) and sit awhile.
Featuring a fun and fresh aqua color reminiscent of mint chocolate chip, this metal pendant served as the inspiration for the overall design of the space – with a custom pendant built from the original design.
Two globe pendants hang above the counter, creating a classic bistro aesthetic.
The interior focuses on a simple black and white design with a few fun pops of color.
The stark contrast of black and white can be seen throughout the space in the round tables with their white marble tops and black iron bases, the crisp white interior walls with contrasting black trim on the windows, and in the clean, white subway tile behind the hanging chalkboard behind the counter – giving the shop a very classic and vintage feel.
While the majority of design includes a cool color palette, we added some warmth to the space with bistro-style chairs featuring light beechwood legs. (They kind of resemble an ice cream cone, no?)
