Dive Into Summer: The Pools of Palmetto Bluff

Written by Palmetto Bluff

Summer at Palmetto Bluff is all about soaking up the sun, cooling off in style, and enjoying the simple pleasures of Lowcountry living. From peaceful afternoons at The Lodge Pools to lively family fun at Moreland, our pools offer a perfect setting for every kind of summer day. We asked members to share their favorites.

The Lodge Family and Lap Pools

When members were asked to vote for their favorite pool, The Lodge family and lap pools made the biggest splash.

The Lodge pools offer a clean, organized setting with cabanas, attentive Club staff, and a peaceful, private atmosphere. Members love the quieter feel, especially in the late afternoons between 4-7 pm when crowds thin out. These River Road neighborhood pools are perfect for everything from napping under umbrellas to cooling off after a workout or spending time with family.

“Relaxing in the lounge chairs or floating in the pool at The Lodge in the afternoon — it’s always a peaceful time with members and their guests.” “The Lodge family pools offer the nicest setting, whether you’re in the hot tub or pool in the mid-afternoon sun.”

“I love the late afternoons at The Lodge — less crowded, clean, and quiet. My wife, daughter, and I enjoy time together between 4 and 7 before dinner.” – Jeff B.

“The Lodge pools are members-only and typically quiet—perfect for lounging by the Inland Waterway or cooling off after a workout at The Lodge gym, especially late mornings and early afternoons on weekdays.”

“The Lodge pools are my go-to on weekend afternoons — generally quiet and perfect for napping under the new umbrellas.”

“Peaceful, all day long.”

“The Lodge is close to home and perfect for afternoons with my family, especially my young grandchildren.” – Karen M.

I’m able to host events while the kiddos are entertained in the pool. My favorite way to enjoy the Lodge Pools? Swim Laps, then Sauna, then Shower- Triple S! – Rebecca H.

Canoe Club Family Pool

While The Lodge pools stole the spotlight, the Canoe Club family pool was also highly rated for its scenic views, concessions, and comfortable lounge area. Canoe Club pool fans enjoy afternoons with a book and a drink while waiting for evening swim opportunities when the pool is quieter.

“At the Canoe Club family pool, it’s all about the view — book in hand, drink by my side, and the afternoon stretched out before me.”

“I enjoy the Canoe Club pool in the late afternoon, especially with the view, the concessions, and fewer kids around for a more relaxed evening swim.” – K. Fauser

“The food and beverage service!”

Moreland Family Pool

Residents also love the Moreland family pool for its perfect balance of relaxation and energy. Unlike the quieter Lodge pools or the River House pool, Moreland offers a lively island vibe with music, beautiful views, and a social atmosphere. Families love the shaded cabanas for relaxing, while the nearby bar and popular Smashburger make spending the whole afternoon there easy. It’s a go-to spot for those looking to enjoy time with kids and grandkids in a fun and scenic setting.

“We enjoy relaxing in under the cabanas in the adult pool. Then, when we’re really to kick it up a notch, we head over to the larger pool for some island vibes, gorgeous views, and music. We enjoy grabbing a drink from the bar and having the scrumptious smash burger on our lounge chairs.” – Kim K.

“With great views, a fantastic bar, and close to home, the Moreland pool is where I spend afternoons with my kids and grandkids.” – Terry R.

“I like the lap pool cabanas. There are usually no kids there and it is much more quiet, private and relaxed than the other pools. I like to go with myself or with another family member in the afternoons.”

“Beautiful location on the marsh, often empty early in the day, just the prettiest pool here. I love to go first thing in the morning. My favorite thing to do at the Moreland pool is watching my grandson learn to swim.” – Patricia C.

River House Pool

“I used to love swimming laps and soaking in the peace at the River House Pool, but I miss the quiet now that it’s busier. I still find a shady spot by the May River at the Canoe Club pool in the late afternoons.”  – Wendy K.

The Views!!!!! It’s quiet and the perfect place for a book.”  – Elizabeth M.

Whether you’re after serene relaxation or a lively atmosphere, the Bluff’s pools offer something special. And as the votes show, they continue to be treasured places for creating lasting memories.
